D3, D4 ja RRS vigase hakkkoksu tagsikutse:

Land Rover has issued a significant recall to Discovery 3s, Discovery 4s and Range Rover Sports due to a problem with the detachable tow bar.
Faulty Tow Bars Mean Major Land Rover Recall
The important recall affects Discovery 3 and 4, and Range Rover Sport.

The Land Rover-branded tow bar may suffer from dangerous wear at the point where it joins the rear crossmember. Land Rover will rectify the problem and upgrade the tow bar free of charge, and has issued a recall affecting Discovery’s from the 2005 to 2013 model years, and Range Rover Sports between the 2005 and 2015 models years.

As LRO has a 2007 Discovery 3 on the fleet (although not with a detachable tow bar), we were one of the owners to have a received a letter from Land Rover recently, notifying us of the recall. It reads:

‘If a detachable towbar is used for towing with excessive nose loads, or for commercial towing, or if the towbar is not removed when not in use, it can lead to premature and excessive wear of the detachable towbar within the rear crossmember mounting.’

What Land Rover will do

Land Rover will use a special tool to assess the tow bar’s level of wear. If wear is excessive, a heavy duty multi-height tow bar will be installed, and in more extreme cases, the rear crossmember may be replaced. You will also receive a handbook supplement in your vehicle’s literature pack.

All this work will be carried out free of charge.

What you need to do

If you own one of the affected vehicles, contact your nearest Land Rover dealer as soon as possible, and quote them your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

Ask for a service date, and ask whether they have parts are in stock for this Customer Satisfaction Programme. If not, they will order the parts (which should arrive within a week) before offering you a service date.

For any more enquiries ring Jaguar Land Rover’s Customer Relationship Centre on 03705 000500.

At LRO we’ve heard anecdotal evidence for a long time about the inadequacy of the retractable tow bar, so this is welcome news. Considering the heavy loads that Discoverys and Range Rover Sports are often required to tow, it’s vitally important to have a secure towing hitch, and to know how to use it properly.
