Future fuel saving powertrains for Land Rover and Jaguar!



According to a report from Autocar Magazine, Land Rover and Jaguar are working flat out to improve fuel economy with new hybrid petrol and diesel powertrains available within the next decade. Stop start technology will be available in 2009 and a new 3.0-Liter TDV6 is expected in 2010.

Land Rover and Jaguar are also considering use of a new eight-speed ZF gearbox, which is compatible with next generation stop start systems. The Autocar report also suggests that Land Rover and Jaguar are looking at Mercedes new S-Class hybrid technology as well as a plugin electric Land Rover, which would use the new Electric Rear Axle Drive (ERAD) system.
