Defender's birthday treat
It's the OAP that loves off-roading. No joke, there's a new Land Rover Defender special edition on the way!

NAS Defender hints at 60th anniversary special but new 4x4 gets bright colour and makes do without the US cars bull bars.
The 4x4 can trace its roots back to the original Series I, which made its debut in 1948. And to mark its 60th anniversary, the brand is preparing to launch a commemorative limited-edition model next year.
The special version of the 90 will feature a canvas soft-top, and take inspiration from the North American Spec (NAS) Defenders of the Nineties.
It comes with an unusual side-hinged lower tailgate and a full roll cage, including an external cage at the front to protect the windscreen. Buyers can also expect trim improvements and unique alloy wheels to set it apart from regular models. The 4x4 debuted at the Amsterdam Motor Show in April 1948, so fans are likely to face a 12-month wait before seeing the new version. Engineers are also hoping to develop an automatic transmission for the Defender. It shares its new 2.4-litre diesel engine with the Ford Transit, and a spokesman for the firm said: "If the Transit gets one, it would be great to fit it to the Defender."
