Ford may produce Land Rover in Russia

MOSCOW (MarketWatch) -- Ford Motor Co. (F) is preparing a production line to assemble Land Rover models in Russia starting next year, Kommersant newspaper reported Thursday, citing a source in the company.
According to the same source, Ford will assemble up to 15,000 Freelander models in Russia a year and will have a retail price starting at $34,000.
The company has been saying that its current production of 62,000 a year in Russia isn't sufficient, but the official position is that they are still deciding on whether to increase output of Focus models or launch another brand.
